The Shifty Blog was started to throw out some random info (that isn’t so random) about how the heck this internet thingy that you’re using works. If you’re already a Shiftreload customer, then you might want to know (for instance) how this webpage is getting from someone’s server out there on the World Wide Web (well, it’s our server so at least we know where it is) and onto your screen via your Shiftreload ADSL or Dial Up connection.

Or, you might be a bit more “savvy” or nerd-like and looking for some more hard core info that explains what the latest with “VoIP” or “SIP” or some such other unmemorable acronym some of the other geeks you hang with have been muttering about.

As the site grows, customers or people may well end up just throwing insults at each other due to disagreements over iPOD v ZUNE, which we’ve no doubt will get lots of press around the planet. That probably means that ISP’s like us who offer TRULY UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS without shaping or capping on our unlimited ADSL plans will see a steady increase in Peer 2 Peer traffic as Zune and iPod users battle it out for the latest content. Some of us probably already believe that good old Billy Gates has built in enough security holes in the ZUNE so that if you’re wandering around San Fransisco Bay Area with your ZUNE watching the latest James Bond movie, some clever nerds somewhere are probably downloading the movie straight from your ZUNE’s hard drive and distributing it to half of S.E Asia. No doubt you’ll have to run the new “ZUNE UPYADATE” service every week to block the latest hack.

But hey, enough about that. In general, the Shifty Blog is here for both us to post stuff you may or may not find useful or interesting and also for you to post some feedback, throw up an article you find interesting or generally indulge your blog curiosity..
